Computer Center
Belize, Guatemala

our VISION
“We would like to see children in under-served communities gain access to local computer centers where they will have an opportunity to participate in the inter-national community, to develop computer competency, and to improve literacy and research skills.”
the NEED
In countries like Belize, only 13% of the population has access to the internet in comparison to more than 60% in the United States. Access, when available, is often through internet cafés in larger towns or municipalities. Many of the rural areas do not have the infrastructure to provide internet access to a majority of its population.
project STRATEGY
1. Ecofriendly Technology
All the assets that we provide to underserved schools are recycled, refurbished, and reconfigured for the needs of these communities.
North American corporations generate over a 100 million tons waste each year, most of which finds its way into landfills.
3. Focus on Education
We bring the teachers to the communities and work with them to develop a focus on education for all community members.
Every year, we bring volunteer educators to Belize, Guatemala, and the Philippines to teach at the computer centers.
2. Sustainability
All of our projects contain the seeds of self-sustainability and growth.
When we build computer centers in underserved communities, we don’t just go out there and construct it for them.
4. Collaboration
We believe that collaborative partner-ships can empower individuals.
Our work is not just the work of one individual or one organization. We collaborate with many individuals, nonprofits.

4 the world DIFFERENCE
4 the World has helped 8 primary schools in Belize, Guatemala, and the Philippines implement computer centers.
Over 1600 students now have access to computers in Belize, Guatemala, and the Philippines. Buena Vista and La Gracia have started to see vast improvements in student performance on standardized tests after the implementation of the computer centers.
how YOU CAN HELP
Though we have made signifi cant improvements to several schools in Belize, Guatemala, and the Philippines. There are many ways to help out:
Volunteer Overseas
We also have volunteer projects that we offer annually to interested individuals, schools, and corporate sponsors to go to these underserved communities to construct and install computer centers and to provide computer literacy and ESL training to the teachers who will run the computer center program.
Contributions
We always welcome contributions that will help fund the construction. No amount of contribution is too small. Even a $5 contribution can cover one school computer with Anti Virus Software. And with $25, we can install security bars for a computer center window. Donate now and make a difference.
